Learning about Factors and Prime Numbers in Maths, Classification Keys for a variety of leaves in Science and learning about Coastlines in Geography.
Beech Class have been learning about factors and prime numbers in Maths. They chose various 2 digit (and sometimes even 3 digit) composite numbers and used factor trees to work out what their prime factors were, they also investigated square and cube numbers using multi-link cubes to explore the difference between squaring and cubing a number. In science the class collected a variety of leaves from the school environment and made classification keys. They had to think carefully about which questions to use to separate one leaf from another. In Geography Beech class continued to learn about coastlines and how they change. They used their previous learning on erosion, transportation and deposition to explore how coastal landforms such as bays, beaches, headlands and cliffs are formed. Beech Class enjoyed their first lesson of tennis this week before the heavens really opened! They practised basic skills controlling how we used our rackets before moving onto pair rallies.
