27.04.22 - Speed Awareness

On Wednesday of this week, some Year 5 children worked with the local authority traffic department to raise awareness of car speeds around local schools. The Road safety team in Plymouth selected Woodford due to the recently installed 20mph advisory signs and lights. As a school community, we have previously raised concerns about driving and parking issues around the school site and so therefore welcomed the opportunity to get involved in such a project. The children in Year 5 measured the speed of drivers using the handheld speed guns alongside the Police Road Casualty reduction Officer. This activity helped to evaluate the effectiveness of the new traffic calming scheme installed in Larkham Lane.
