Earlier this week, a team of Year 5 & 6 footballers took part in the finals of the Schools’ Cluster League at Manadon Sports Hub.

Having won a qualifying event to make the finals, our team then won all of their group matches to reach the semi-finals, where they came up against Oreston.

It was a very tight game which had to be decided on penalties. We held our nerve to win the shootout 4-3 and reach the final. We then faced Bickleigh in the final, in what was another close-fought encounter that ended in a draw and went to penalties again! Sadly, our luck ran out and we lost 6-5 in a nail-biting shootout.

The team did themselves proud though and it was a great achievement, especially considering the standard of opposition. Well done, Woodford!
