Welcome Elm Class

We have started our first science unit. We are learning about different materials. This week we have been naming different materials such as metal, wood, plastic, fabric, glass and rock. We then sorted different objects into groups by their materials. We talked about how to group objects made with more than one material.

The children absolutely loved their first outdoor learning session. They learnt the boundaries and rules for using the forest. We tried to find a different item for each hand and looked to see how they were the same or different.

One of the areas in our classroom is called the ‘funky fingers’ area. This area focuses on developing children’s fine motor skills, grip strength and coordination. Children are using tweezers to try and balance pom-poms on top of the golf tees.
