Welcome to the Maple class page.
Plastic Pollution Day 10.01.2020
The children thoroughly enjoyed writing their messages in a bottle to highlight the damage that plastic pollution is having on our ocean wildlife.
I was really impressed with the awareness that all the children have of this ever increasingly important issue. They equally enjoyed making their
'up cycled' creations from junk materials collected over the Christmas break.
Whole school writing competition celebrating Thanksgiving Day
28th November 2019
The children all tried really hard in composing their line poems on Thursday of this week. The children used a picture of the original Thanksgiving celebrations as a stimulus and imagined that they were there!
Our class winners are Lily and Sebastian, with Lily being declared the overall
Year 2 winner in our assembly this morning.
Well done everyone, especially Lily!
Enjoy their poems below:
My poem is a happy place
A strong man in people's armour.
A dog is barking with his wagging tail.
The lady is giving the food to the man.
The child is hungry as she made no food today.
The bakers are baking the delicious meat.
We are thankful to share.

My Thanksgiving sharing poem
Lots of people are sitting in front of the aqua blue sea.
A kind young friend helping with the food.
A dog wagging his tail.
Lots of people eating their dinner.
Lots of men and women all around me.
We are happy to share with you.

Taking our learning outside in Science
Despite the slightly indifferent weather we have been having lately, this didn't stop Maple class going out and about looking for things that are living, never been alive or dead.
Maths Think boards
The children have been using think boards in maths to help improve their fluency, understanding and explanation of what number bonds mean for them.
