Sex and relationship Education

Our approach to Sex and Relationship Education

At Woodford, sex and relationship education is part of the health education programme. Many aspects such as growth and development are part of the children’s everyday work.

The governors and staff feel that questions should be answered sensitively and honestly but with awareness on the part of teachers of parents. We believe that parents are key figures in helping their children cope with the physical and emotional aspects of growing up. The teaching offered by schools should be complementary and supportive of the role of parents. However, schools have the responsibility to ensure that pupils are adequately prepared for life.
