On Tuesday, the Year 6 football team made the long trip to Oxford to compete in the regional finals of the EFL Kids Cup. After winning the area finals in January, the boys proudly wore the Plymouth Argyle strip as they were representing the city at the tournament. In our group were: Portsmouth, Peterborough, Walsall, Wycombe and Northampton.
The format did not really play into our hands, as the short, 5 minute games made it very difficult to get into much of a flow. However, the boys gave their all and still managed to play some good football, gaining 5 points in their group.
Unfortunately, this was not enough for us to reach the semi-finals but it was a great experience for the team to play against the best footballers in the region, and they more than held their own in every game. It was a magnificent achievement to get there and made for a great day out. Thank you to all the parents who came to support on the day and a big well done to Daniel D, Charlie B, Nathaniel P, Billy M, J’adore L, Owen C, Cameron P and Rory D.
