Dan Metcalf visits Woodford

Visit by Dan Metcalf on Thursday 8th November

On Thursday, author Dan Metcalf visited Woodford to share his new book, “Paw Prints in the Somme”. The book is about a young farm cat Tom who is transported from his home in Devon to the trenches of World War One. He read a very exciting extract describing how Tom arrived in the Somme, and how the soldiers reacted to him. He also told us about being inspired to write the book after a visit to the vet with his cat! Order forms for this book have been given out this week, and more are available at reception. If you would like your child to have a signed copy of the book, please return to school with the money by Monday 12th November. The books are only £5 if ordered through the school. Dan has taken the order forms brought in so far, and will deliver the signed books back to the school in about a week. More information about Dan and his books can be found at
