The family of Mr Perkin, our teaching assistant who very sadly died last year, have kindly donated money to the school to purchase reading books for the children. Mr Perkin was passionate about reading and loved books. He cared a great deal about our school libraries and always did a fantastic job in organising the annual school book fair to raise funds for new books. He also loved his job, helping children with learning to read and to share his love of reading. Judith Kerr and Julia Donaldson were among Mr Perkin’s favourite children’s authors and so it seemed fitting to use the money to buy collections of books written by these authors for both key stage libraries and also to purchase more colour banded reading books for our KS1 children. These books have now been added to our library collections and the children are really excited about taking these new books home to read. We are very grateful to Mr Perkin’s family for this generous donation in remembrance of Mr Perkin.
