On Monday and Friday this week, we will again be completing comprehension activities.
This week, we would like children to complete the 2015 Year 6 Reading paper. In this, there are 3 texts - 'Charlie Small', 'Guide Dogs', and 'California's Unlikely Warriors'.
The children will need to complete the three texts over the course of the week. Our recommendation would be that they complete the first two on Monday, and then the third one on Friday or one on Monday and then the other two on Friday. We will leave it up to them to decide though - they may wish to spread them over 3 days next week if they prefer. Whichever way they decide to complete them, please can you ensure that all 3 texts are completed by the end of the week.
The Answer booklet contains all the questions so we'd recommend this is printed off for children to write in. The Reading booklet can either be printed off or they may wish to just read it on the screen. It does say in the instructions at the start of this booklet that they have an hour to complete this but there is no need for it to be timed. Please encourage them to check answers with the mark scheme afterwards.
In English this week (Tuesday - Thursday), it will be our final week focussing on 'The Golden Compass'. Children will have lessons from Oak National Academy and also a spelling activity to do each day.
For the English lessons, please click on the link which will take you directly to the lessons. We will also provide a worksheet for them to complete each day, where they can apply their learning.
Please ensure they have the worksheet ready before watching the video, as often they'll need to pause it at certain points and complete the task on the worksheet. It is important they pause the videos when asked as they usually go through possible answers shortly after.
Please also remember to read regularly throughout the week, including use of Read Theory.
