Barclays Bank Christmas window display - December 2018
This week, Year 3 were invited by Barclays Bank to decorate a Christmas window in the Armada Way branch. We have been learning about the Victorians this term so we decided that we would make Victorian themed decorations for the tree and coloured illuminated letters for our window title. We also created silhouette carol singers to stand by our beautifully decorated tree. Well done to Year 3 for their creative design and artwork! Thanks too, to Mrs Walmsley who helped Mrs Beresford to set up the display.
Perhaps whilst you are in the city centre over the next couple of weeks you could go along to the bank and see the Woodford display?
Year One Antarctica Flag project November 2018
The children in Year 1 will be learning about the North and South Pole next term, as part of their topic work. To compliment this, we signed up to be part of the Antarctica Flag project. This is an initiative where children design flags to represent Antarctica, and the treaty that was signed to make the area a peaceful place for all nationalities to come together to complete and share vital research. The children in Year 1 spent some time designing flags and the 5 best flags have been chosen to be taken to Antarctica to fly high. The chosen designs were by Isla L (Hazel), Rae M (Holly), Summer C (Hazel), Emmey E (Holly) and Rosie H (Hazel). We should receive photographs during March to show their flags flying in Antarctica! How very exciting for the children-well done!
The children were very excited to hear about our upcoming Elmer project in their whole school assembly on Tuesday and everyone is starting to think about what sort of design could be used for our Woodford Elmer.
A big thank you for all your donations today; we raised an incredible £420.50 All of which will be given to support the amazing work and support provided at St Luke’s Hospice. Last year the hospice cared for 3,400 patients in the local community, living with a life-limiting illness and also provided specialist support to the families and young people dealing with bereavement.
Thank you all your support for our upcoming Art project, Mrs Beresford.
Look who Mrs Beresford and Mrs Ayrton got to meet this week!
We are so excited to announce that our school is going to be part of a very BIG, exciting Art project in 2019. Watch this space for news about how we are going to be part of ‘Elmer’s Big Parade’ in 2019 and fundraising for the amazing, compassionate care provided in St. Lukes Hospice, Plymouth.
Whole School Portrait of Plympton Competition
The whole school has been very busy over the last couple of weeks working hard on their self-portraits. We were so impressed with the detail that the children used, the use of construction lines to draw and place their features accurately and the shape of their sketching. It was so hard to choose our entries! We would like to say a huge well done to all the children who had their portrait chosen by their class teacher to be submitted their portraits into the competition.
Good luck everyone!
