Woodford is a popular primary school for children 4 – 11 years and we currently have 452 children on the roll in 16 classes. Our extensive school site offers a wide variety of learning environments ;
large, bright classrooms, shared learning spaces, 2 libraries, 2 computer suites, music room,
4 playgrounds, outdoor amphitheatre, woodland area and a large school field. Within our site are the community services of Willow Child Care Centre (Nursery and after –school/holiday care), Plumtree Children’s Centre and the Plews Scout Centre.
Woodford Primary School grew from the amalgamation of the Infant and Junior Schools in 2010 and in June 2016 we became part of the Plym Acadamy Trust. This is a collaboration of five primary schools within Plympton; Boringdon, Chaddlewood, Glen Park, Plympton St Maurice and Woodford Primary Schools, all of which have academy status. We are very excited about the opportunities that the Trust and partnership between the schools offers and supports us in our own school's journey of development and improvement.
We are extremely proud of Woodford Primary School and the dedicated and skilled staff who focus on the needs of each child, ensuring they feel confident, happy, safe and are well equipped both academically and in life skills, for their future educational and life challenges. Our children are our greatest ambassadors, their high standards of behaviour, positive attitudes to learning and all round achievements, are a credit to the school and the result of the close working partnership we have with parents.
We foster a caring ethos and have 3 main rules – Respect for Ourselves, Respect for Others and Respect for our Environment. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect staff, volunteers and parents to share this commitment.
