At Woodford, we believe that Science for children means exploring, discovering, investigating and understanding the world around them. In order to achieve this understanding, we will provide them with opportunities to encourage their natural curiosity and sensitivity to the living world and the non-living environment, which will foster in them an appreciation of man’s place in the world.
The children will develop their understanding of scientific methods through different types of scientific enquiries and their scientific knowledge through studying :
At Key Stage 1- Plants, Animals including humans, Everyday materials, Seasonal changes, Living things and their habitats
At Key Stage 2- Living things and their habitats, Plants, Animals including humans, Materials/states of matter, Rocks, Light, Forces and Magnets, Sound, Electricity, Properties and changes of materials, Earth and space, Forces, Evolution and inheritance
