Autumn Term Curriculum

Current Week:

 

1/10/17

Phonics: This week we have learnt to recognise and say the sounds and name for the letters i and n. We have practised writing them in cursive formation. We have talked about words that start with those sounds and some children have begun to blend CVC words that start with those letters.

Literacy: We wrote our own labels listening to the first sounds in a word and writing any other sounds we could here too.

Maths: We continued and created patterns using 2 and then 3 colours.

Topic: Our topic this half term is 'Welcome to Woodford'. We went to the forest for the first time and collected leaves and sticks to create a Sukkah. We learnt about the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. We also had our first fire drill and learnt how to keep ourselves safe.

Phonics: This week we have learnt to recognise and say the sounds and name for the letters t and p. We have practised writing them in cursive formation. We have talked about words that start with those sounds and some children have begun to blend CVC words that start with those letters.

Literacy: We read Oi Cat, Oi Dog and Oi Frog. We talked about which words rhymed and tried to find our own rhyming pairs of words.

Maths: We counted out objects from a larger group remembering to stop when we reached the number we needed. We practised saying one number for each object.

Topic: Our topic this half term is 'Welcome to Woodford'. We went to assembly, the ICT suite and had P.E for the first time.

Phonics: This week we have learnt to recognise and say the sounds and name for the letters c, s, and a. We have practised writing them in cursive formation. We have talked about words that start with those sounds and some children have begun to blend CVC words that start with those letters.

Topic: Our topic this half term is 'Welcome to Woodford'. We went to the playground and had lunch at school for the first time.
